Amista 2022 Chardonnay

Amista 2022 Chardonnay

This is such a stand out vintage of our Estate Chardonnay. Even though it was a very low-yielding year, the concentration and depth of flavors that we got in our Chardonnay was really extraordinary.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This wine has aromas of perfectly ripe white peach, white floral notes, some toasted almonds, and a touch of yogurt. The palate is very fruit driven all the way through with stone fruit on the front and all the way on the finish as well. The palate is balanced and nuanced with bright acidity but also a lush and round feeling. I love this wine!
Vineyard Notes
This comes from our Morningsong Estate Vineyard Clone 4 Chardonnay. We picked this slightly riper than our other Chardonnay in order to allow for full development of flavor in each cluster.
Production Notes
2022 was another quite warm vintage. We had extremely low rainfall over the winter and spring, which caused for a very small crop. Some frost and hail hit us in April, which further reduced the crop. A very warm summer led to an early harvest as well. However, because of the incredibly low yield, flavors are heightened and absolutely delicious from this vintage.
Winemaker Notes
Our Morningsong Estate Chardonnay was picked by hand in the early morning hours and immediately put into the press. The juice went straight to neutral French oak barrels where indigenous fermentation took about 4 weeks to complete and no malolactic was allowed. After fermentation, the wine was kept on primary lees for 10 months before bottling.
